Sound Re-Design of Ori and the Will of the Wisps

12/25

This is a 3-minute sound redesign of a gameplay clip from Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

An aim I had during this re-design was to reduce masking and highlight in-game goal sounds so that they remained clear and noticeable against the ambience. To achieve this, I used techniques like EQ ducking, downward expansion, and timing and spatial cues.

I recorded and created the majority of the audio featured in the clip. A small number of sounds were taken from free online libraries; however, they were mostly dry, unprocessed recordings that I used as raw material to create entirely new sounds. I deliberately avoided using fully premixed sound effects.

Sound Re-Design of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

04/25

This is a short sound re-design of a clip taken from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

I mainly focused on re-designing the ambience, as in the original scene, the mix is primarily dominated by the music.

I recorded around 50% of the SFX myself while taking the others from free online libraries; however, they were mostly dry, unprocessed recordings that I used as raw material to create entirely new sounds. I deliberately avoided using fully premixed sound effects.

Sound Re-Design of The Wild Robot

05/24

This is a short sound re-design of a clip taken The Wild Robot.

I mainly focused on re-designing the robot audio, so not as much focus was put on the ambience or other sounds

I recorded and created the majority of the audio featured in the clip. A small number of sounds were taken from free online libraries; however, they were mostly dry, unprocessed recordings that I used as raw material to create entirely new sounds. I deliberately avoided using fully premixed sound effects.

Sound Re-Design of Big Hero 6

04/25

This is a short sound re-design of a clip taken from Big Hero 6.

I primarily focused on designing the UI sounds, so little focus was put on ambience or character design.

I recorded around 50% of the SFX myself while taking the others from free online libraries; however, they were mostly dry, unprocessed recordings that I used as raw material to create entirely new sounds. I deliberately avoided using fully premixed sound effects.

Radio Show Sound Re-design of Death by Dying

05/23

This project is taken from a module I did in first year called Sound Theory. We were tasked to take a previously published radio show and completely re-sound design it, along with writing an audio dialogue script, and appropriate technical notes on an Excel Spreadsheet, documenting everything I did.

I chose a radio show called Death by Dying which is a multi-series dark comedy fiction radio show/podcast that serves as the obituary column for the town of Crestfall, Idaho. When the obituary write is supposed to simply be doing his job, he finds himself deeply over his head as he investigates a series of mysterious deaths while encountering murderous farmers, man-eating cats, ominous shadows and more.

Music is taken from online libraries, but sound effects and dialogue I recorded and created myself.

The Lost Crypt Sound Design - Unity x Wwise Implementation

05/23

This is a project I did implementing Wwise and Unity together. I used the project template of The Lost Crypt from the Unity asset store and sound-designed all the elements in Reaper and Wwise. The music was taken from Freesound, but the SFX and dialogue were all recorded and created myself.

In this video, I showcase the game within Unity, along with how I made and implemented different sound elements into the game.

Sonic Representation of The Blitz in WWII

12/22

This is a university project I did in my first year for the module Sonic Culture. This project is about World War 2, specifically The Blitz, and the effect it had on people. Taken from a combination of true stories, it follows a young girl called Mary who tells her story of troubles, despair, and confusion through her whole life changing in just a matter of a few minutes.

This was aimed at giving an insight into the horrors that people faced during the war and what could soon come.

This was a group project where I worked alongside two others as we were tasked with producing work outside of audio like posters and reports, however, I was in charge of everything sound related and also wrote the script for all the dialogue. Most of the sounds were taken from online libraries, however they were all mixed, processed, and finalised myself, often using them to create new sound effects.

Sound Re-design of Weathering with You

04/22

This is a Sound Re-Design project I did for my Advanced Higher Music Technology Assignment in High School. This clip is taken from the Japanese animated movie Weathering with You. I recorded, created, and mixed all dialogue and music, as well as the majority of the sound effects. While some sound effects were sourced from online libraries, most were recorded and designed by me.

As the original audio is in Japanese, some of the English dialogue is off sync in certain moments.

Alongside this, I also did a research project investigating Advanced Foley Techniques Used to Create Weather Sound Effects. Furthermore, all the weather sound effects featured in this clip I created myself using different Foley methods.
